    Faculty Search - Senior Biostatistician Faculty Position
The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is recruiting for a senior academic position at the Associate/Full Professor level (100% FTE – tenured) The faculty will hold academic appointments both in the Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences (50%) and in the Division of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine (50%).

As a senior faculty member, the appointee’s responsibilities will include collaborative research, independent research and teaching biostatistics, as well as mentoring students and junior faculty. Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in biostatistics or statistics and have experience in teaching biostatistics to biostatistics and non specialist audiences. An established record of collaborative and independent methodological research is required, including demonstrated experience with the design, analysis and reporting of epidemiologic and medical studies and experience in obtaining grant funding. Experience with cancer research, imaging, clinical trials, or health services research is highly desirable. Previous experience in leadership of Center or Program Project cores is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience or potential for assuming administrative and leadership roles for biostatistics in a School of Medicine or School of Public Health setting are highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with strong communication abilities. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

The Department of Public Health Sciences (http://phs.ucdavis.edu/) is a major research and teaching department in the School of Medicine, with 25 full-time faculty members. In addition to epidemiologic research within the Department, there is active collaboration with many faculty in other departments and centers of the School of Medicine including the Department of Internal Medicine, the Clinical and Translational Research Center, the Cancer Center, the M.I.N.D.Institute, the Center for Environmental Health Science, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Center. Collaborations also exist with other faculty on the UC Davis campus, including in the School of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, the Center for Health and the Environment, and elsewhere. Areas of active research in the Department include occupational / environmental health, cancer, reproductive and women’s health, aging, nutrition, cardiopulmonary disease and injuries/accidents. Department faculty are principal investigators and collaborators on many large cohort studies in addition to work on a wide range of other epidemiologic studies and clinical trials. We offer a Master’s in Public Health program on the UC Davis campus. Department faculty also participate in doctoral education through the Graduate Groups in Statistics, Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

The Department of Internal Medicine is a major clinical care, research and teaching department in the School of Medicine with 231 full-time faculty members engaged in multiple collaborations with other School and UC Davis campus departments, research centers, clinical centers and primary care networks.

This position may, at times, require the incumbent to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards of the position may include but are not limited to ergonomic stressors involved in computer work.
