2009: Course Flier
Public Health 101 is an in-depth introductory class for the student who
is interested in understanding the field of public health and is seeking
to explore career options in public health.
The class will focus on public health concepts including: tools for
measuring health in populations; the relationship of the public health
system with medical care and other elements of the overall health
system; and the identification of the government's unique contributions
through federal, state and local public health agencies. Learn more
about the field of biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental and
occupational health, behavioral health, and health management and
policy! This year we will also focus on the role of public health in
"health reform" at the federal and state levels.
This class should be of interest to a wide variety of students who would
like to consider public health as a future career, as well as, those who
are pre-clinical, pre law, etc who want to have a solid understanding of
public health as part of their education.
